Care

Gently clean your jewellery using a soft lint free cloth with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Gently pat dry. (Avoid harsh chemicals, detergents and abrasive cleaners)

All jewellery naturally tarnishes over time. The best advice is to store jewellery in a small airtight bag when not in use then pop in its pouch.

To remove tarnish a jewellery polishing cloth may be used.

THE ANCIENT ART OF Lapidary

Using ancient lapidary techniques I cut, shape & polish each and every stone to unveil it's natural beauty.

Sustainability

Recycled Gold

All of the jewellery I make here at Tarska is handcrafted from 100% recycled gold. This reduces the impact of mining on the environment. Most recycled gold comes from jewellery but also from things like old smartphones, laptops and computers.

Hand Collected Stones

Sourcing the stones locally and responsibly means I'm not importing gemstones from overseas. This means I have a direct relationship with collectors and local geologists who can verify the exact area where the stones were collected. There is no mining, everything is collected by hand in small amounts. I always follow sustainable and safe working practices while working with stone.

Eco Friendly Packaging

All of the packaging is made here in the UK using at least 70% recycled materials.(I aim to use 100% recycled packaging by 2025) Everything meets FCA standards and and it's all 100% recyclable. (even the pouches).
I thoroughly researched the paper used in all of my promotional materials too. Everything is 100% traceable. The paper is sourced from forests where trees are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally.

100% Wool Jewellery Pouches

Tarska jewellery pouches are handmade from pure new wool woven here in Scotland. Not only does it look and feel great, wool is also a completely natural and renewable fibre, making it the most sustainable choice for my jewellery pouches. The campaign for wool website has more information on the benefits of wool.

No Gold Plating here

By using only solid precious metals that won't be thrown away, I can guarantee that your jewellery will never end up in landfill. Solid Gold will last forever and if you decide you'd like to repurpose your gold jewellery it can be recycled again and again to produce something new.  I originally considered a gold vermeil range of Jewellery (heavy gold plating over sterling silver) but after some research, wasn't keen on the chemical processes involved in gold plating to create gold vermeil jewellery.

Fighting against fast fashion

Jewellery was once something to cherish. Passed down from generation to generation. A family heirloom. Many fashion brands now sell cheap, wear twice costume jewellery that will end up in landfill -  it's literally disposable jewellery. Even some of the more expensive costume jewellery will be thrown away eventually.

I believe in investing in jewellery.  Your jewellery should mean something to you and you should enjoy wearing it over and over again for years to come.

Giving Something Back

I support the John Muir Trust, a conservation charity that looks after wild area of Scotland. This means you are helping to look after our land by buying sustainable jewellery.

I believe that all businesses should be doing something to protect our planet. We all take so much, yet often don't give anything back. From day one I wanted to give something back to charities that look after our planet and plan to do more as I grow as a business.
